Can I remove a tree next to my house in Massachusetts?

Whether you can remove a tree next to your house depends on several factors, including local regulations and the tree’s health and condition. In many areas, you may need a permit to remove a tree, especially if it’s large or close to property lines or public spaces. Additionally, it’s important to consider the safety and risk factors involved in removing a tree close to a structure. Consulting with a professional tree service is advisable.

How do you fell a tree close to a house?

Felling a tree close to a house is a complex task that should be done by professionals. It involves careful planning to determine the fall’s direction and precise cutting techniques. The process might include sectioning and removing the tree in parts, especially in tight spaces. Safety is the utmost priority in such operations to avoid damage to the house and to ensure no one is harmed.

Project Overview

The Bradshaw Family wanted to transform their large backyard into a functional outdoor retreat with spaces for family gatherings, dining, and relaxation. They envisioned a design that combined elegance with the natural beauty of New England landscapes, prioritizing privacy and year-round interest.

Inspiration

The design was inspired by the Bradshaw’s love for New England’s rustic charm and classic aesthetics, combined with clean, modern lines to maintain a timeless appeal. Key elements were inspired by traditional gardens but adapted with native plants and materials to ensure harmony with the local environment.

✕

Our process begins with a site visit at the property with our design team and our clients.

In this initial visit, our designers will conduct a walkthrough of the space with the clients to understand the existing conditions of the space and the feasibility of the project to envision how the space can be better utilized to enhance the outdoor living space.

✕

After our team’s initial site visit, we provide our clients with a high-level estimate with price ranges for each element of the project so there is an understanding of overall value and how these ranges align with the project budget.

This estimate includes any other work associated with the project, including that of other tradesmen, (such as pools, plumbing, electrical, engineering, etc.) so that our estimate depicts a realistic idea of what the all-in budget range will look like.

✕

Our design team will use their notes and observations from the initial meeting to brainstorm ideas that will shape the layout of the clients’ space. Building materials, plant palettes, style, and how our client will use the space all come into play to create a cohesive custom design that is unique to each property.

This process is an exciting and collaborative effort between our team, our clients, and our trade partners, resulting in a full layout plan and 3D rendering, as well as a detailed installation proposal for the client.

✕

Once the designers have finalized the Design/Build project, our Design/Build operations manager will be in touch to review billing and any other questions our clients might have, as well as introduce our construction and production managers.

Our managers will schedule a pre-construction meeting with the clients to go over on-site details as we approach the start date on the project.

Throughout the course of the project, our design & production teams are available to answer questions our clients may have and will collaborate with other trades such as pool builders, electricians and builders.

✕

At the presentation meeting, our team will share the design vision for our clients’ project. It is at this meeting where the project will be presented in hyper realistic color 3D images, along with plant and materials inspiration photos.

Through the collaborative feedback from our clients and trade partners, we are able to make any revisions necessary to the final design before beginning the project.

✕

Once the project has been completed, the designers and construction managers will schedule a final walkthrough of the site to provide training on new appliances as well as general tips on upkeep.

During this meeting, our Design/Build team will introduce our clients to our landscape maintenance team, who will propose all suggested continuing maintenance services on the property to

keep the new outdoor space in top condition well after construction is complete.
